Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Braves
|
The Cincinnati Reds got a superb performance from right fielder Bernie Williams, but the Atlanta Braves still won the game, 5-4. Williams was named the player of the game despite the loss. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Atlanta occupies 4th place in the Federal League East Division at 66-74.
One of the stars of the game was Atlanta first baseman Howard Johnson. In the bottom of the 11th with no one out, he got a slider from Todd Worrell and hit a walk-off solo home run. That made the score 5-4 in favor of the Braves.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Cincinnati manager Eric Deutsch said following the tough loss.
