Yankees Lose to Sun Rays, 8-1
|
Orlando rode a good effort from starter David West to beat the New York Yankees at Orlando Citrus Bowl. The final score was 8-1. West, now 10-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. The Sun Rays bumped their record to 78-61 with this latest triumph.
Will Clark had a big bases-clearing double for the Sun Rays in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Orlando leading 3-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Eric Plunk and stroked the double to right. It was his 21st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sun Rays ahead, 6-1.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Clark told the Orlando News.
