Senators Continue Skid Thanks to Jose, Blue Jays
|
The Toronto Blue Jays downed the Washington Senators, 9-5, at RFK Stadium. Felix Jose led the way, going 2-for-4 for Toronto. Toronto reliever Dana Kiecker picked up the win to move to 8-11. Joe Hesketh suffered the loss. Bryan Clark got the save, his 3rd in 8 chances.
Toronto shortstop Cal Ripken Jr. delivered a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh. Overall, he went 3 for 5, including 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and batted in 2.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Jose Mata said.
The Senators, now 57-82, have lost 4 in a row.
