Piazza Stars for Cubs in 11-5 Win

Spirited fans at Arlington Stadium greeted the Texas Rangers for their clash with the Chicago Cubs.

The Chicago Cubs downed the Texas Rangers, 11-5, at Arlington Stadium. Mike Piazza led the way, going 2-for-3 for Chicago. Willie Banks picked up the win, improving his season record to 13-7. He struck out 8 in 6.1 innings. Frank DiPino earned his 3rd save in 5 chances.

Piazza got the Cubs off to a quick start. In the top of the first, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a run-scoring single.

"Enjoyed this one," Piazza told the Chicago Herald. "But it's back to work tomorrow."

The Cubs bumped their record to 81-60 with this latest triumph.
