Multi-HR Game for Sosa in 6-2 Win
|
The New York Mets topped the Baltimore Orioles, 6-2, with youngster Sammy Sosa playing a key role. Sosa went 3-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Mets in the win. Bob Milacki picked up the win, improving his season record to 10-13. He struck out 6 in 7 innings. Lee Smith earned his 25th save in 30 chances.
In the top of the sixth, Sosa had one of his most important at-bats: a 2-run home run off Tim Belcher that staked the Mets to a 3-1 lead.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Sosa.
The Mets are now 75-71, while the Orioles fall to 87-58.
