Oakland right-hander Danny Cox made an effective start against the Seattle Pilots at Oakland Coliseum, leading his team to a 3-2 win. Cox got the win, improving to 6-5. He allowed 4 hits and walked 3 over 8 innings. Cox allowed 2 earned runs. The Athletics raised their record to 75-70.
The Athletics scored in the bottom of the third when Ryne Sandberg hit a 2-run double to make the score 3-2, Oakland.
