Braves Slip Past Boston, 3-2
|
The Atlanta Braves got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher Randy Tomlin, but it was good enough for the club to take a 3-2 decision over the Boston Red Sox. The Braves move to 68-79 with the win, while the Red Sox drop to 82-64.
Darryl Strawberry went 1 for 4 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Atlanta. The former first overall pick had a key at-bat in the top of the 14th. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off John Wetteland. It was his 94th RBI of the season.
"We put together a nice win," Tomlin said.
