Yankees Need Extra Frames to Get Past Twins
Minnesota got a terrific performance from right fielder Larry Walker, but it wasn't enough to beat the New York Yankees. New York won the Metrodome contest, 9-7. Walker was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. New York goes to 63-88, Minnesota to 64-86.

New York took a 9-7 lead on Jeff Kunkel's 19th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Kunkel hit in the top of the 13th, left Minnesota pitcher Alejandro Pena visibly frustrated.

"We came out aggressive," said Yankees manager Patrick McQuail. "We came out swinging the bats."
