Washington got a terrific game from center fielder Brian R. Hunter. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Milwaukee, 7-6. Hunter was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2-5 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Brett Gideon, credited with the win, is now 6-5. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. Washington's current losing streak is now 4 games.

In the bottom of the 11th, Milwaukee first baseman Wally Joyner had a productive at-bat. With the bases empty and one out, Joyner stroked a solo home run to left. It made the score 7-6, Milwaukee. For the game, he was 1-5 with a home run and a walk.

"We'll take this win and move on," said Joyner.
