Rangers Need Extra Frames to Get Past Reds
Texas and Cincinnati duked it out at Riverfront Stadium and the Rangers came out victorious.

The Rangers faced a stiff challenge from Cincinnati pitcher Scott Bankhead, but persevered to claim a win at Riverfront Stadium. The final score was 7-4. Bankhead went 9 innings and allowed 4 earned runs. Even with the win, the Rangers have a dismal 40-112 record.

Texas used the timely hitting of Chris Gwynn to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Rangers on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"Good win for us, tough loss for them," said Gwynn.
