Big Game from Castillo Not Enough, Mets Lose
|
The Pilots grabbed a win, 2-1, at Shea Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from New York pitcher Frank Castillo. Castillo went 8 innings and allowed no earned runs. The first-place Pilots, at 91-61, now lead their division by 11 games.
Castillo pitched a very strong game for the Mets, allowing 1 hit in 8 innings while striking out 8. It was all for naught, however.
