Braves Continue Skid Thanks to Biggio, Sun Rays
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Craig Biggio, the Orlando Sun Rays defeated the Atlanta Braves, 7-1. Biggio went 4-4 with a home run, a triple, and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Sun Rays. David West got credit for the win, improving to 12-5. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 7 innings. The Braves, now 71-84, have lost 4 straight.
In the top of the seventh, Kevin Mitchell stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Braves were trailing 7-1, but had the bases loaded. That's when David West made a terrific pitch and Mitchell struck out. Gone was the dream of a Atlanta comeback.
