Mets Get Past Washington for 4-3 Win
The New York Mets scored a 4-3 win versus the Washington Senators at Shea Stadium. New York pitcher Bob Milacki nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Lee Smith earned his 26th save in 32 chances. The Senators, at 60-94, have lost 7 in a row.

The Mets got an important contribution from second baseman Carlos Quintana, who in the bottom of the eighth hit a first pitch fastball into left for a run-scoring double. It was his 7th double of the season and put the Mets ahead, 3-2.

"We did a lot of things right," said Milacki.
