Red Sox Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Sun Rays
|
The Boston Red Sox defeated the Orlando Sun Rays, 5-4, in Federal League action at Fenway Park, with Boston pitcher Wilson Alvarez named player of the game. Boston reliever Tom Henke was the winner. His record is now 7-4. Rod Beck took the loss. At 90-68, Boston is in second place in the Federal League East Division.
Terry Steinbach was the walk-off hero for Boston. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Red Sox catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Boston manager Kevin Patterson.
