Cubs Jolt Royals with Late Rally
|
The Chicago Cubs stopped the Kansas City Royals, 5-3, at Royals Stadium. The Cubs got a big game from Manuel Lee, who was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Chicago reliever Jim Corsi picked up the win, bumping his record to 5-2. Stan Belinda was collared with the loss. The Cubs bumped their record to 93-66 with this latest triumph.
Lee had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a first pitch fastball from Stan Belinda, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Cubs a 5-3 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Lee.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Lee said after the game.
