The Orlando Sun Rays eked out a 5-4 win versus the Pittsburgh Pirates at Three Rivers Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher John Smoltz, who captured player of the game honors. Orlando, now 93-68, holds first place in the Federal League East Division.

Orlando relied on the hitting of Ken Caminiti to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Sun Rays on top, 4-3. For the game, Caminiti had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Smoltz said.
