Both teams had their chances, but the Orlando Sun Rays eventually prevailed at Three Rivers Stadium.

Orlando beat Pittsburgh at Three Rivers Stadium, escaping with a 7-6 win. The win in large part was due to second baseman Mike Bordick, who earned player of the game honors. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Orlando reliever Bill Mooneyham was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Cal Eldred took the loss.

Orlando took a 6-4 lead on Bordick's 2nd home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off Cal Eldred in the top of the seventh, propelled Orlando to the win.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Bordick. "And not try to do too much."

Orlando is now 94-68, 2 games up in the Federal League East Division.
