Cardinals Come Back Late to Clip Sun Rays
|
Despite a great performance by Orlando first baseman Jeff Bagwell, the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Sun Rays by the score of 6-5 at Busch Stadium. Bagwell hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. The Cardinals, now 18-15, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
The Cardinals got a clutch hit from Terry Kennedy with two out in the bottom of the eighth inning. Kennedy jumped on a 1-2 fastball from Rich Garces and hit a run-scoring single, staking his club to a 6-5 lead.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Kennedy told the St. Louis Citizen.
