Extra-Inning Win by Tigers over Giants
The Detroit Tigers faced a tough opponent in San Francisco pitcher Butch Henry, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Tiger Stadium by a final score of 4-3. Henry went 8 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Detroit reliever German Jimenez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Rusty Meacham absorbed the loss. The win takes Detroit to 2-2.

With the clubs tied 3-3 in the bottom of the 13th and runners on 2nd and 3rd, pinch hitter Randy Milligan, who finished 4th in the FL in on-base percentage with .389 in 1987, hit a walk-off run-scoring single.

"This game tested our mettle," said Milligan.
