Athletics Win in 13
|
The Oakland Athletics eked out a 4-3 win versus the Seattle Pilots at Kingdome. Nobody did more than pitcher Derek Lilliquist, who captured player of the game honors. The Athletics bumped their record to 21-19 with this latest triumph.
It could have been a different outcome for Oakland, had it not been for Tony Pena, the former first round draft pick . Pena contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 13th inning to put Oakland up, 4-3.
"We had a chance to win," said Seattle manager Robert O'Neill, "but we didn't get it done."
