Pilots Score Late, Upend Senators, 7-4
|
The Seattle Pilots trumped the Washington Senators, 7-4, at RFK Stadium. Seattle center fielder Ken Griffey Jr. was named player of the game for his performance. He went 4 for 4 with a triple, 3 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Getting the save was Darren Holmes, his 3rd. Seattle is now 26-16, 3 games up in the United League West Division.
In the top of the eighth, the Pilots took a 5-2 lead when Jay Buhner hit a 2-run single.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Griffey Jr. told the Seattle Citizen. "It's as simple as that."
