The Chicago White Sox picked up a win at Comiskey Park, knocking off the Orlando Sun Rays, 5-3. Starting pitcher Bob Tewksbury, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Tewksbury went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-0. Losses have been few and far between for the Sun Rays, who are now 4-1.
The White Sox got a big at-bat from center fielder Oddibe McDowell. For the game, McDowell was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the seventh, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 6th hit of the season gave Chicago a 3-2 lead.
"We did enough to win," said McDowell.
