Braves Snatch 3-2 Win
|
The Atlanta Braves got a strong performance from pitcher Melido Perez, who stymied the Kansas City offense en route to a 3-2 win at Royals Stadium. Perez picked up the win for Atlanta, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 4-4. Mark Wohlers recorded the save for Atlanta, his 7th of the season.
The Braves grabbed the lead in the top of the sixth. With one out, Kevin Mitchell hit a 2-run home run off Rick Reed, putting Atlanta in front, 2-1. For Mitchell, it was his 14th home run of the season.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Atlanta skipper Will Henderson.
After today's action, Atlanta sits at 26-17, while Kansas City falls to 29-14.
