New York starter Bob Milacki pitched effectively against the Oakland Athletics at Shea Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a 4-3 win. New York occupies third place in the United League East Division at 24-21.

One significant at-bat for New York came with a runner on 1st in the bottom of the eighth. Mets second baseman B.J. Surhoff hit a single, which helped New York go on to win.

"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Milacki.
