Cincinnati and Chicago duked it out at Comiskey Park and the Reds came out victorious.

The Cincinnati Reds topped the Chicago White Sox, 8-5, in Federal League action at Comiskey Park. The player of the game was Cincinnati center fielder Eric Davis. Scott Erickson got the win, improving to 3-5. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 9 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Mark Clear closed it out for his 2nd save.

One significant at-bat for Cincinnati came with the bases loaded in the top of the eighth. Reds catcher Javy Lopez hit a grand slam, which helped Cincinnati go on to win.

"I felt good up there," said Lopez. "I saw the ball well."

The Reds bumped their record to 23-22 with this latest triumph.
