Thomas Slugs Twins to 8-7 Win
The Minnesota Twins stopped the Orlando Sun Rays, 8-7, behind an impressive performance from Frank Thomas. The fan favorite made life miserable for Orlando pitching. He was 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Minnesota reliever Rob Dibble was the winner. His record is now 3-1. The losing pitcher was Jeff Nelson. Norm Charlton was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.

The Twins beat the Sun Rays with some clutch hitting. The double by Kal Daniels in the top of the eighth is a good example. With two down, Daniels gave his team the lead, 7-6, when he came through with the big hit.

"We got the victory," said Thomas. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."

The Twins, now 17-30, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
