Victory Pushes Cubs Record to 26-24
|
Chicago pitcher Paul Wagner did his part in helping his team beat the Boston Red Sox, 5-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The Cubs bumped their record to 26-24 with this latest triumph.
In the top of the third inning with two out, Chicago designated hitter Mike Piazza hit a 2-run home run. It made the score 3-0, Cubs. For the day, Piazza was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Chicago manager Anthony Perez.
