Sun Rays Drop Royals with Late Score
|
Orlando Citrus Bowl was the site of a competitive game between the Kansas City Royals and Orlando Sun Rays.
The Orlando Sun Rays overcame a good performance by Kansas City right fielder Reggie L. Sanders to knock off Kansas City, 5-4, at Orlando Citrus Bowl. Sanders was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The Sun Rays, now 29-21, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
The Sun Rays got a big at-bat from center fielder Craig Biggio. For the game, Biggio was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. In the bottom of the ninth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 50th hit of the season gave Orlando a 5-4 lead.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Kansas City manager Daniel Drucker.
