Cubs Turn Back Braves, 4-3
|
The Chicago Cubs topped the Atlanta Braves, 4-3, in Federal League action at Wrigley Field. The player of the game was Chicago pitcher and Dickson, Tennessee native John Mitchell. Doug Jones earned his 13th save in 17 tries. The Cubs bumped their record to 27-27 with this latest triumph.
Manuel Lee gave Chicago a good at-bat in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run single to help send Chicago to the win.
Lee attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
