Pirates Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
Pittsburgh beat Kansas City on the strength of starter Terry Mulholland's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a 6-1 win. The Pirates have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 2nd win in 6 games.
It could have been a different outcome for Pittsburgh, had it not been for Lance Blankenship, the former first round draft pick . Blankenship contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Pittsburgh up, 1-0.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Blankenship said.
