A 4-RBI performance from first baseman Edgar Martinez, who leads the UL with a .472 on-base percentage, led the Seattle Pilots to a 5-4 win over the San Diego Padres. Seattle goes to 35-21. The win puts them 5½ games up in their division.

Martinez had no bigger at-bat than in the top of the ninth when the three-time All-Star hit a run-scoring double. The double gave Seattle the lead, 5-4. It was his 12th double of the season.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Martinez said.
