Royals, Naehring Pin Bad Loss on Red Sox
|
Royals third baseman Tim Naehring put his stamp on his team's 11-2 win over the Boston Red Sox. Naehring was 3 for 3 with a home run and a double. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for Kansas City in the contest. Kansas City reliever Scott Brown picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jose Mesa shouldered the loss. The Royals own a robust 38-22 mark.
In the top of the 8th, first baseman John Olerud gave Kansas City the lead when he hit a 2-run double. The Royals had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out double off Boston pitcher Jose Mesa changed that -- and Kansas City went on to win.
"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Kevin Patterson.
