|
New York Yankees starter Tom Candiotti pitched effectively against the Texas Rangers at Yankee Stadium. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 3-2 win. Wes Gardner was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 11 of 13 save opportunities. New York's record now stands at 28-36, placing them last in the Federal League East Division.
Contributing to the New York win was Paul Sorrento. In the bottom of the third, the 26-year old designated hitter had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 1-0, the Yankees in front.
