Reds Drop Cardinals with Late Score
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
Cincinnati beat St. Louis at Busch Stadium, eking out a 7-6 win. The win was due in large part to center fielder Eric Davis, who earned player of the game honors. Cincinnati reliever Doug Henry picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Steve Chitren shouldered the loss.
Davis came through for Cincinnati with a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth. He hit a full count fastball to center field, staking his team to a 7-6 lead.
"I had some good swings out there," said Davis.
With the win, Cincinnati goes to 34-29, while the Cardinals fall to 37-26.
