Rangers Come Back Late to Top Royals
|
Kansas City catcher Chris Hoiles was sensational. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Texas beat the Royals, 6-4. Hoiles was named the player of the game despite the loss. Texas reliever Jeff Calhoun picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Tim Crews absorbed the loss. Even with the win, the Rangers have a dismal 19-50 record.
Phil Plantier played a key role in the win. The Texas right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, Plantier went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Plantier, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
