Murray Helps Texas Cruise to 10-3 Win
|
The Texas Rangers bested the Minnesota Twins by a score of 10-3, with first baseman Eddie Murray getting the main credit. On the day, Murray went 4-5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Rangers. Pete J. Smith was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 6 walks and 6 strikeouts. Even with the win, the Rangers have a dismal 21-52 record.
Contributing to the Texas win was Brian McRae. In the top of the fifth, the 24-year old left fielder had a run-scoring walk. That made the score 4-2, the Rangers in front.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Murray. "And not try to do too much."
