Martin Helps Cubs Run Win Streak to 3

A 4-RBI performance from designated hitter Al L. Martin, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1991 draft, led the Chicago Cubs to a 10-8 win over the New York Yankees. The Cubs bumped their record to 38-35 with this latest triumph.

The contest featured some late-game dramatics from Chicago shortstop Manuel Lee. In the top of the ninth inning, with two out and the bases loaded, Lee hit a 2-run single to help Chicago seize the win.

"We'll savor this win," Lee told the Chicago Herald, "then get ready for the next game."
