Twins Get Road Win, 7-5
|
Minnesota and Atlanta duked it out at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium and the Twins came out victorious.
Atlanta got a terrific performance from first baseman Howard Johnson, but it wasn't enough to beat the Minnesota Twins. Minnesota won the Atlanta Fulton County Stadium contest, 7-5. Johnson was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Rob Dibble converted his 10th save in 14 tries.
Frank Thomas had a key at-bat with two out in the top of the ninth for Minnesota. With the bases loaded and the Twins leading 6-5, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"Enjoyed this one," Thomas told the Minnesota News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
Atlanta has now lost 5 in a row.
