Saberhagen Throws 5-Hitter En Route to 2-1 Rangers Win
|
The Texas Rangers got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher Bret Saberhagen, but it was good enough for the club to take a 2-1 decision over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Even with the win, the Rangers have a dismal 22-54 record.
Saberhagen allowed 1 run over 9 innings. He also racked up 8 strikeouts.
"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Saberhagen. "Successful pitchers do it."
