Athletics Win Another One
|
The Oakland Athletics and New York Mets put on a pitchers' duel at Oakland Coliseum.
The Oakland Athletics picked up a win at Oakland Coliseum, knocking off the New York Mets, 2-1. Starting pitcher Jaime Navarro played a key role in the triumph. In 7.1 innings, Navarro surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Brian Holton was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 2 save opportunities.
One consequential at-bat came in the bottom of the seventh. With the bases loaded, the batter, Kevin Romine, drew a walk, driving in 1 run. It made the score 2-1, Oakland, and helped them go on to win.
