The Chicago White Sox beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 6-5, at Comiskey Park. Ruben Sierra was recognized as player of the game for his performance. He was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. Oddibe McDowell, who is tied for 10th in the FL in bases on balls with 40, aided the Chicago cause with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the center fielder was 1-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once.
