The Toronto Blue Jays knocked off the New York Mets, 12-1, at SkyDome. Bip Roberts, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Toronto won. The center fielder went 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5. Toronto starter Ed Correa was credited with the win after throwing 138 pitches over 8.2 innings. His record now stands at 8-4. The second-place Blue Jays lifted their record to 47-33.

Doing his part for Toronto was third baseman Bob Horner, who stroked a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, Horner went 2 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"We maximized our offense today," said Toronto skipper Jose Mata. "That makes everyone's life easier."
