Smith Hurls Texas to Shutout Win

Pete J. Smith of the Texas Rangers humiliated the St. Louis Cardinals at Arlington Stadium today, spinning a complete game shutout and holding the visitors to 5 hits.

"He stayed aggressive and his ball was really moving," said St. Louis manager Adam Rabel, after the game.

Smith whiffed 9 and walked 3 in the 2-0 win.

"If I make good pitches, I'm going to get some outs," Smith said. "I was making good pitches the entire game."

So far this season Smith has a record of 5-9 with 87 strikeouts and 53 walks in 118.1 innings and a 5.86 ERA.
