Spirited fans at Comiskey Park greeted the Chicago White Sox for their clash with the Boston Red Sox.

Chicago left fielder Ruben Sierra had a good game, even if his team did not. The White Sox dropped a 7-5 decision to Boston at Comiskey Park. Sierra was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Tom Henke picked up the save for Boston, his 2nd of the year.

Tony Gwynn, who led the UL in doubles with 46 in 1982, helped out the Boston cause in the top of the seventh inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the right fielder went 1-5.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Gwynn, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."

Boston, now 3-6, is off to a slow start.
