Cardinals Lose, 9-6, at Comiskey Park
|
Getting a good performance from left fielder Ruben Sierra, the Chicago White Sox defeated the St. Louis Cardinals, 9-6. Sierra was 4 for 5 with 2 triples and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the White Sox. Bob Tewksbury was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 6 runs on 8 hits, with no walks and 1 strikeout. Xavier Hernandez got the save, his 11th in 21 chances.
Sierra came through for Chicago with a 2-run triple in the bottom of the third. He hit a first pitch curveball to right-center field, staking his team to a 2-0 lead.
"If it's down the middle," said Sierra, "you might as well hit it."
The White Sox bumped their record to 43-42 with this latest triumph.
