Victory Pushes Cubs Record to 44-39
|
Chicago starter Scott Chiamparino pitched effectively against the Texas Rangers at Arlington Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a 2-1 win. Chiamparino, the winner, moves to 3-3. He threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 3 walks. The Cubs bumped their record to 44-39 with this latest triumph.
Chicago relied on the hitting of Mike Piazza to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cubs on top, 2-1. For the game, Piazza had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Piazza said after the game.
