Giants Turn Back Expos, 5-4
|
The San Francisco Giants managed to get by the Montreal Expos, 5-4, at Candlestick Park. San Francisco pitcher Floyd Youmans took player of the game honors. San Francisco's record now stands at 53-55, placing them 4th in the United League West Division.
Delino DeShields went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for San Francisco. The speedster had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Trevor Wilson. It was his 46th walk of the season.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Youmans told the San Francisco Citizen. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
