Mets Lose, 7-6, at Memorial Stadium
|
New York designated hitter Hal Morris had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Morris hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice, even as Baltimore beat the Mets, 7-6. Morris was named the player of the game despite the loss. Dennis Eckersley converted his 2nd save in 2 tries. Baltimore goes to 66-42. The win puts them 7½ games up in their division.
One consequential at-bat came in the bottom of the sixth. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, the batter, Tim Raines, hit a 2-run single. It made the score 6-4, Baltimore, and helped them go on to win.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Raines.
