Orioles Hammered by Alou, Drop Game 1 to Giants
The San Francisco Giants started the Division Series in style today, winning on the road against the Baltimore Orioles at Memorial Stadium by a score of 8-6 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Giants left fielder Moises Alou was named player of the game after he went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2.

It could have been a different outcome for San Francisco, had it not been for Darryl Hamilton, the former first round draft pick . Hamilton contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fifth inning to put San Francisco up, 6-5.

"We got the victory," said Alou. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore. The scheduled starters for the game are Floyd Youmans for the San Francisco Giants and Steve Avery for the the Baltimore Orioles.
