White Sox Win in Extras
|
Yankee Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox.
The Chicago White Sox eked out a 5-4 win versus the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Bill Gullickson, who captured player of the game honors. Chicago reliever Dan Warthen got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Kirk McCaskill was tagged with the loss.
This game was not decided until late. With two out in the top of the 22nd, Travis Fryman hit a run-scoring single. The White Sox took the lead, 5-4.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Gullickson. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
The loss drops New York to 10-8.
